Chaitra Navratras 2011 ~ Chaitra Navratri 2011

Navratras is a Hindu festival celebrated for nine days worshipping the various forms of Durga. The Navratras festival is celebrated four times in a year: Vasanta Navratras, Ashadh Navratras, Sharad Navratras and Magha Navratras. These are further divided into Prakat and Gupt Navaratri. From the above mentioned Navaratras, Vasanta and Sharad Navratras are Prakat Navaratras; while Ashadh and Magha Navaratras are called Gupt Navaratras.
Vasant Navratras, also known as Chaitra Navratras, is observed during Chaitra Shukla Paksha (March/April). As this Navratra coincides with Ram Navami, it also referred as Ram Navratras. Durga Ashtami in Navratras is the most auspicious day for Durga puja. Durga Ashtami 2011 date in this Navratras is April 11. As per the legends mentioned in the Puranas and other Hindu scriptures, Chaitra Navratras is the actual Navratras during which Goddess Durga was worshipped. It is also called as Sri Rama Navratras. Sri Ram Navratras ends on Ram Navami festival. Chaitra Navratras dates in 2011 are from April 4 to April 12.
