Ganesh
Chaturthi (गणेश चतुर्थी)
Ganesha also known as Vighneshwara is
the Lord of Obstacles of material and spiritual order and His dharma is to
remove obstacles and fear. He rules over the Muladhara Chakra, the lowest or
primal energy centre in Human body. Ganesh Chaturthi is the birthday of Lord
Ganesh, the son of Shiva & Parvati. Ganesh Chaturthi falls on the 4th
day after new Moon of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, around August or
September. It is also known as Vinayaka
Chaturthi. In 2014 Ganesh Chaturthi date is 29th August 2014 on
Friday. On this day there is a special combination of exalted Mercury with
Hasta Nakshatra and Amrit Yoga with Chaturthi Tithi whole of day. This is a
very auspicious combination according to astrologers.
Ganesh Pooja is
preferred during noon (Madhyanhana) on Ganesh Chaturthi as it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Noon time (Madhyahana Kaal). The Ganesh utsav, the
festivity of Ganesh Chaturthi, ends after 10 days on Anant
Chaturdashi, which is also known as Ganesh Visarjan day. On
Anant Chaturdashi, devotees taken out the idol of Lord Ganesh in a colourful
and musical procession to be immersed in the ocean or other water body.
It is believed that
one should not look at the Moon of Ganesh Chaturthi as legend had it the Moon laughed at Lord Ganesha when he fell from his vehicle, the rat. Sighting the moon of Ganesh Chaturthi creates Mithya
Dosham
(कलंक) which means false accusation.
Wish you All a Very
