Mercury Retrograde

Mercury Retrograde

All planets in the Solar System, except the Sun and Moon, have a retrograde Phase. Retrograde planet is generally considered more introverted. This is the time to realise which area of your life that needs a little more attention. The planet Mercury appears to be moving backwards in the sky for a period of approximately three weeks; usually three and sometimes four times a year. When Mercury is retrograde, everyone's thinking is more introspective; we tend to think about issues and concerns that relate to the sign where Mercury is posited. Mercury signifies mind, intellect, mind's processes, communication, business, information, travel and technology. When Mercury reverses its direction, all these areas get affected as well. Business, travel, technology, postal services and communications tend to experience delays and different problems. Computers and other processes that work with information may experience crashes, unexpected failures, expect delays if traveling, appointments may get cancelled, writers may experience 'writers block', people misunderstand each other. You may feel that everything is working against you. Mercury also rules contracts, so think before you sign or wait to sign documents until Mercury goes direct. During Mercury retrogression one should not enroll to courses, don't buy expensive Mercury items, don't sign important contracts and do not take decision to marry. If they have to do must think twice before taking any decision. It is definitely a very good period for some actions. As no time is completely bad for anything, there is a reason in everything happens. Mercury retrograde is a time for reflection. Mercury retrogression is about re-doing, re-visit something, re-thinking, double-checking, finish the old projects. So, think about the things you started and never finalized. It is a positive side to Mercury Retrograde. This period is best used for re-organizing and reflecting.

Mercury is the planet of communication, Mercury retrograde tends to develop a certain level of confusion. Mercury rules our lower mind which is related to how we perceive and interpret information that we receive from our immediate environment, and how we pass on that information to others. Mercury rules the things such as speaking, perception, negotiating, buying and selling, listening, formal contracts, documents, travel, the mail and shipping etc. All of these areas of life are affected when Mercury is functioning in a retrograde state. Decision-making is challenged during Mercury retrograde. That’s why during retrogression it is not advised to sign contracts, engage in important decision-making or launch a new business. Delays and challenges are more probable with Mercury retrograde. It is important to note that there is absolutely no reason to suspend projects or anything of the sort during the Mercury Retrograde cycle. It's not an ideal time to start new ones or to sign contracts, simply because a change of mind is very possible once Mercury turns direct.

About one-quarter of us have Mercury retrograde in our natal charts. When Mercury is retrograde in the natal chart itself, it affects a person’s behavior, education, voice and intelligence, the thinking processes are generally more acute, and the sense of humor rather quirky. People with Mercury retrograde take in information differently than those with Mercury direct in their natal charts. They have an incredible imagination and artistic ability. People have a unique way of seeing the world, one that is worth sharing. Usually decisions are based on past life experiences. A person is inclined toward writing works during this period. Mercury is the significator of writing, comedy etc. It may force a person to change his decision even in the end.  Retrograde Mercury in birth chart makes the child unable to speak in childhood if under malefic influence or they are unable to pronounce some words clearly.
